NEW CONTENT ADDED? REMEMBER TO FLUSH THE CACHE
One of the most common “gotcha”s facing website hosting clients is when new content (pages, posts, etc.) is added but doesn’t immediately appear on the public-facing web pages.
This happens because our hosting infrastructure makes heavy use of multiple layers of server-side caching, in order to improve overall site performance, which is becoming ever-increasingly important for Google page ranking.
The solution is simple: whenever you add or update content, follow the steps below.
- From the WordPress administration interface, select the “WP Engine” option right at the top of the navigation bar on the left hand side of the browser page:
- Under the section “Dynamic Page & Database Cache Control”, under the subsection “Object/Transient Cache”, click on the button “Purge All Caches”:
- Wait about 5 minutes for the purge request to complete, and your new content should be visible on the public-facing web pages.
